This holiday season, in collaboration with the NGV, MECCA invites you to step into the wonderful world of Yankunytjatjara artist, Kaylene Whiskey.

With endless creativity and a touch of fantasy, Whiskey’s work blends her love for pop culture, movies and music videos with her traditional Anangu roots. Her iconographic pop stars and superheroes turn up in unexpected places, partaking in traditional Anangu activities and bringing magic to the everyday.

Inspired by Whiskey’s effervescence, our Holiday 2023 campaign imagines a place of abundant beauty (and beauty looks!), of boundless joy, luminous gifts (in Kaylene’s artful gift boxes), kungka kunpu (strong women) and most of all, happiness – the kind that radiates, shimmers and brings everyone together, looking so good.

Amethyst Eyes

It’s the beauty trend of 2023 we can’t keep our eyes off. From lilac to violet, purple eyeshadow is having a major moment and, in the words of Taylor Swift, “I just want to stay in that lavender haze.” For Holiday, we chose to honour the hue by way of a graphic liner with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in ‘Vice’ I-021036 offering the vivid shimmering colour and party-proof precision required come holiday season.
